The Friends of the Selbyville Public Library are looking for a new Member of the Board to help support the library's daily operations.
About Us
As a non-profit, all-volunteer community group, we continually seek new volunteers and ways to fundraise in order to support the library operations and library staff.
Did you know, the Selbyville Public Library is not operated by the state, county, or town?
It is actually an independent library, overseen by a volunteer Board of Commissioners, and is a 501C(3) non-profit, similar to the FOSPL. While the Selbyville Public Library receives funding through several government sources, it requires additional support from grants and people like you to help with its operational expenses.
Programming, including events for children and adults, is funded through support from the FOSPL, donations and grants.
The library operating expenses, including salaries of the library staff, are funded by the State of Delaware, Sussex County, the Town of Selbyville, and donations made by the FOSPL.
Fundraising by the FOSPL is necessary in order to maintain high-quality, valued programs in our community.
Mission
The mission and purpose of Friends of the Selbyville Public Library (FOSPL), a separate 501(c)(3) group of volunteers, is to support the operations of the Selbyville Public Library. Our goals include:
- enriching the resources of the library by fundraising and supporting the operation of the library
- encouraging the use of library resources
- focusing public attention on the library
- championing the library with state and local representatives
- encouraging endowments and bequests to benefit the library
